Understanding the Influence of Linguistic Variation on Reading: Implications for Teaching

Learn from Education Leaders About Implementing the Science of Reading in the Classroom

On Monday, AIM will host a free day of learning for more than 2,000 educators around the country and the world. We hope you will be among those joining us.

We are excited to gather in person with researchers and literacy experts to discuss the role that cultural and linguistic difference play in teaching children to read with moderator Dr. Julie Washington and speakers Kareem Weaver, Dr. Elsa Cárdenas-Hagan, Resha Conroy and Hollis Scarborough Award recipient Dr. Linnea Ehri. In addition, symposium attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from school leaders working to introduce evidence-based literacy learning into schools and classrooms.

Our Science of Reading Implementation: What You Should Know panel will feature AIM Pathways partners including representatives from the Louisiana Department of Education, The School District of Philadelphia and The School District of the City of York. Hear from literacy leaders and AIM Pathways partners who have addressed the opportunity and challenge of adopting the Science of Reading in their states and local educational agencies. The panelists will share case studies regarding their implementation of the SOR and the advancement of linguistically flexible teaching. This will be a unique opportunity to hear voices from the field and lessons learned from their experiences.

NOTE: CEUS are available for individuals who attend in person or watch the entire live symposium. All registrants will receive recordings of presentations following the event.
