P2P-GA & IDA-GA Outreach for Parents: Supporting Language Development – Tips for Parents

What can parents weave effortlessly into daily routines that can support language in a young child? What are some examples of simple, fun, planned activities, too? Join host Stacey Levy and guest Peri Kaplan for ideas that you can implement right away!

Peri Kaplan is a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist and the Clinic Director at Stacey Levy & Associates (SLA). She earned her Bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. After over a decade in the Atlanta area public school systems, Peri joined Stacey Levy & Associates as Clinic Director in 2012. Peri has developed expertise in diagnosing, assessing, and treating children with speech, language, and literacy challenges. Her clinical interests are particularly focused on dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities, as well as Developmental Language Disorder and articulation. Peri is a certified clinician with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a professional license in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Georgia.

Peri has three kids ages 12, 14 and 18, including one who has been blessed with DLD, Dyslexia and ADHD.

Stacey Levy is the Founder and President of Stacey Levy & Associates (SLA), a private speech-language therapy and tutoring practice with two locations in Atlanta. Stacey is an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist and literacy specialist who has been practicing since 1997. After earning her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Stacey completed her Master’s degree at the University of Texas–Dallas, Callier Center for Communication Disorders. Stacey founded SLA in 2009 as an individual speech-language pathologist. Since then, the practice has expanded to include nationally accredited and state-licensed associate speech-language pathologists and experienced structured literacy tutors. Stacey and her associates provide services in a variety of areas including developmental language disorder, articulation, written expression, and multi-sensory, structured literacy intervention for reading and spelling. Previously, Stacey served on the Kairos Learning Center Professional Advisory Council at St. Martin’s Episcopal School (Dyslexia Support Program). She was also a board member of Courage Schools and a founding board member of Tapestry Charter School. In addition to her clinical work, Stacey offers continuing education opportunities for professionals and parents, as well as consultation services. She has published articles on inclusion and co-authored the book Everyone Is Welcome. Stacey currently serves as President of the International Dyslexia Association, Georgia chapter (IDA- GA), and has been on the IDA-GA board since 2015.
