*The term ‘novaturient’ refers to those who yearn for change and new experiences—a trait indicative of a positive outlook on growth and evolution. After witnessing her son’s educational hurdles, Natalie knew change was necessary, and she was determined to be a part of that change. She sought Orton-Gillingham training, and her dedication evolved from individual tutor and classroom teacher to teacher trainer. As an Orton-Gillingham Fellow, she now seeks to empower novaturient educators with a deeper understanding of the science of reading and Structured Literacy teaching methods. Novaturient Natalie is inspiring a new generation of teachers to make reading and writing a source of joy, not frustration.

Natalie Felix is the owner of Structured Language & Literacy, LLC, a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist/CERI, and a Fellow of The Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners & Educators. She holds a Masters Degree in Special Education from Valdosta State University. Currently, she serves as Fellow at Swift School in Roswell, GA, and Sage School in Lawrenceville, GA, providing Orton-Gillingham training and support to faculty as well as members of the community. Natalie’s focus is to provide Orton-Gillingham training to both public and private school educators in an effort to give teachers the tools to deliver sound Tier 1 reading instruction as well as intervention to struggling readers. She also enjoys the rewarding experience of tutoring with one-on-one students. Natalie is the mother of two grown children and resides in Alpharetta, GA, with her husband, Mark, of over 30 years.

Janet Street, M.Ed., serves on the board of the Georgia Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. Janet has worked with dyslexic learners at The Schenck School for 23 years. She has held many positions, including Lead Teacher, Director of Student Services, and Director of Outplacement.  She is now the Director of Teacher Training at ReadSource, the outreach arm of Schenck. As a Fellow with the Orton Gillingham Academy, she has taught hundreds of parents, tutors, and teachers how to use the Orton-Gillingham approach to help students learn to read and spell. She is the proud daughter, sister, and mother of talented and successful family members with dyslexia.
